Very sad news came through yesterday about one of our friends who has recently passed away.

Brad Russell, Perth’s muaythai-boxer who had fought out of Kao Sok Muay Thai Gym. He is the very first fighter trained by Darren Curovic.

Brad started fighting in 1997 and within two years he had already quite a few fights as well as the challenge for Western Australia State title. He then had some time off due to work and combined injuries.

Ten years later, in 2009 Brad fully restarted his career with the fight against Daniel Way in Melbourne. Brad then also fought many Thais while staying in Thailand along with taking on Cam Merky for WA belt.

Brad’s last fight was versus Karthik Mohandas in Perth.

“Heart of gold, comedian & scary man, huge loss to us all & to the WA Muay Thai community… miss you brother… RIP,” Darren Curovic.

In 2011 Brad also competed inside the ring with another friend of ours, Nick Mandyczewsky, who, has akso unfortunately left us.

Way too early, way too young… We will never forget you.

Rest In Peace
