Mairis Briedis defeats Ismail Abdoul and becomes the 2-time IBA boxing cruiser-weight champion of the world.

Mairis Briedis has taken a 12-rounds win over Ismail Abdoul and defended his title live on Eurosport on Friday, November 14, 2014 in Liepaja, Latvia.

The IBA Boxing World Championship was promoted in the terms of the Bigger’s Better Boxing series. The match featured on the programme with the Girl Power 8-woman kickboxing tournament.

The bout went on distance, however all the scoring went towards Latvian boxer. Mairis Briedis has outscored his vis-a-vie out of Belgium, Ismail Abdoul.

All three judges Klaus Hagemann (Germany), Emil Irimia (Romania) and Bruno Wartelle (France) came to unanimous decision.

The third man in the ring was Steve Smoger (USA). The world championship match was supervised by Stephane Cabrera (France), the IBA boxing European continental representative.

As a final conclusion for the event, Mairis Briedis updates his undefeated record up to 14 wins with 11 remaining knockouts.
