Mark Hunt takes Round 1 KO victory over Frank Mir in the main event of UFC Fight Night 85 at Brisbane Entertainment Centre on Sunday March 20, 2016.

Prior the bout athletes showed the highest level of confidence. None had a minor doubt in the up-coming victory. Indeed, there is one winner only. Today it is Australia-based ‘Super Samon’ Mark Hunt.

Hunt had no fear facing Mir, neither he feared death in the octagon. Nevertheless, a very experienced knockout artist left nothing for the judges. It was all over in the first round when Hunt landed a massive right over hand that landed at the back of the head and dropped Mir to the canvas.

Earlier, FOX Sports reported Mark Hunt saying the following “I think I’ve got one more run at the title and this is it. If I lose any one of these fights then I might as well just call it a day.”

On the fight week Mir said that winning over Mark Hunt would be the following step leading him to the UFC title shot. He has also left a warning for Hunt saying “Tap out or I’ll end your career”.

At the post-fight press conference Hunt briefly explained why he walked off instead of finishing Mir off, when the last collapsed on the canvas after a heavy hit.

“He was still in the darkness, his face was still… he wasn’t there, so I’ve just left it,” Hunt said.

“He wasn’t there, he was out, somewhere else.”
