Hollywood actor Mickey Rourke attends annual VIP event Fight Night Saint Tropez on Thursday, 4th August 2016 in St Tropez, France.
The list of rich and famous, who attended Fight Night, was traditionally vast. In 2013 it included Rocky himself, Sylvester Stallone. This year it was the turn of Mickey Rourke. American actor, screenwriter and retired boxer attended the event alongside numerous personalities from French television, film, music and sport industries. Bernard Montiel, Vincent Lagaf, and Sophie Tapie, just to name a few, gathered at the Citadel of St Tropez, enjoying the atmosphere of competition. Eminent fighters Farid Khider, Cyril Abidi, Gregory Tony and, of course, Jerome Le Banner were there too. Those who couldn’t make it to the venue, were lucky to witness the super show live in prime time on l’Equipe 21.
The WKN kickboxing championship of the world headlined the gala. Yohan Lidon faced Danijel Solaja in defense of his prestigious super middleweight title. Moreover this year the Fight Night was heavier than ever. Plus 500 kg tournament featured in the card.
Mickey Rourke has certainly taken pleasure from the evening. Meet and greet, attention from media as well as the true heroes of fighting sport… It was all there for him. At the end of the main event, Rourke entered the ring to salute both athletes. He heartily congratulated Lidon with the defense of his title.
Rourke is well-known in Hollywood circles. Among everything, he played the lead roles in notable movies such as Sin City and The Wrestler. He also appeared in Iron Man 2 and The Expendables. As an amateur boxer Rourke collected 27 wins and 3 losses. His professional record counts eight undefeated fights with six wins and two draws. In 2014 he reappeared inside the ring during a demo bout in Moscow.
