Medalist at London Olympics Esquiva Falcao attends kickboxing world championship in Sorocaba, Brazil on Saturday, 20th August 2016.
Boxer Esquiva Falcao won a prestigious silver medal at 2012 Summer Games in London. A year earlier of reaching the dream of every athlete, he has also earned the bronze at world championships. He finalized the amateur career and turned pro in February 2014. His debut saw the fourth round TKO victory over Joshua Robertson. To date Falcao is undefeated in 14 bouts. Moreover, he competes predominantly in the USA, the place where every boxer aims to be.
Brazilian star Falcao is currently in Rio where he supports his countrymen at the games. On August 20 he travels to Sorocaba to present at kickboxing show. Indeed, the fighting sport that evolved from Karate approximately 45 years ago, is still not included in the Olympic roster. Nevertheless, attention from Olympic personalities is a vast contribution towards the progress.
The event is the WKN world championship fight night. Local favorite Felipe Micheletti faces off Rogelio Ortiz from Argentina. In addition, the bout is their highly anticipated rematch. The show also includes kickboxing and MMA tournaments.
The promoter of the event is Sergio Batarelli. He is Falcao’s manager in pro-boxing. Batarelli is also a founder of the International Vale Tudo Championship. Launched in late 90’s the IVC banner is fundamental for MMA competition. Batarelli dedicates the show to a new era of his famed invention.
The WKN scheduled two IVC shows in Brazil this year. IVC Sorocaba is the debut event. The next show is happening in November.
