Michael Swann of ProKick Belfast KO’s Cathal Dunne of Wolfpack Athlone in the WKN amateur kickboxing championship of Ireland.

Swann vs Dunne headlined the ProKick Roadshow Back ‘n’ Ards on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at Queen’s Hall in Newtownards, Northern Ireland. The WKN Ireland national title belt was for grabs. Light welterweights went ahead under the full contact rules at 4×2 minute rounds.

Dunne reportedly forced the fight from the first bell. In round two Swann received an eight count. Dunne continued putting on the pressure in the third.

In the forth and final round it was all or nothing for Swann. Indeed, he had to pull something big, being far back on points. On the second minute a spinning back fist followed by another right caused a dramatic turn around for Dunne. Referee Bob Hunter called Dr John Doherty who consequently terminated the contest. As an ultimate result Swann earned prestigious WKN belt being crowned as a new kickboxing champion of Ireland.

Also on the night local Samantha Robb defeated Poland’s Dominika Rembelska in women’s kickboxing bout. Jake McCreedy and Killian Emery scored decisions over Courtney Vella and Aiden Borg of Malta in teenage contests.

The programme included the kids as young as six years old competing in a well controlled light contact bouts. Demo bouts and young LadyKillers also featured on the card.

The event was promoted by eminent Billy Murray. He returned international kickboxing to Newtownards. This is where he himself won his first own world title belt. Murray dedicates the event with one solid aim to keep building a new sports generation in Ireland.
