Yi Long defeats Buakaw Banchamek on Saturday, November 5, 2016 in Nanjing, China.
Muay Thai legend Buakaw Banchamek and Shaolin Kung Fu fighter Yi Long faced off for the second time. The three-round bout went on distance. The verdict from judges proclaimed a unanimous decision in the favor of local favorite.
Bangkok Post reports that the day after Buakaw’s manager Teerawat Yioyim made a statement on his Facebook page saying that “although referees made the unanimous decision for Buakaw’s defeat, Muay Thai through Buakaw even gained more reputation because the recordings of the fight clearly showed that the Chinese competitor was heavily attacked in all three rounds”.
“The event and the Chinese boxer were under heavy criticisms and many Chinese viewers walked out of the venue.”
“Buakaw fought a perfect fight, reflecting his good practices and preparations.”
Their first bout took place in Jiyuan, China last June. Buakaw earned a decision. Therefore the decider match may be on cards.
On December 10, 2016 Buakaw is facing off Belarusian Andrei Kulebin. The bout headlines the event held in Beirut, Lebanon.
