The are three potential territories. Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane, originally Lang Park, is reportedly a preferred destination. In addition, the venues in the United States and Arab Emirates feature on the list.
“The preference for all parties is for the fight to be held in Australia, and we are working towards this outcome,” Sydney Morning Herald quotes Dean Lonergan, the director of Duco Events who is also Horn’s manager.
“I would expect 3-4k Filipinos to fly from the Philippines for this fight down under,” said Bob Arum, Top Rank boxing promoter. “It will be the biggest fight in Australian history but, until the money is secured, we have to keep our options open, including looking at the Middle East and USA.”
In regards to the financial matter, according to ABC the Queensland Tourism Minister, Kate Jones advised that the Government had put the money on the table. Brisbane City Council is to finalize the arrangements. The actual figure provided by the State Government was though not named. However the Minister ensured that the taxpayers would get value for their money.
“We only contribute to events we think can inject significantly into the economy,” she said. “It would inject up to $200 million into the Queensland economy.”
