Lorenzo Piras is fighting for WKN kickboxing world title

On Saturday April 22 in Iglesias, Antonio Alias promotes the first in history WKN kickboxing world championship on Sardinia Island.

Over the years Alias has organized numerous fight shows such as the “Night of Super Fight” and “Coral Kombat”. The events held in Oristano and Iglesias have seen a prominent list of international kick-boxers. Former world champion out of Northern Ireland, Gary Hamilton himself battled out in the ring of Sardinia.

The island itself is a large Italian territory in the Mediterranean sea. It is also a home of rising stars. The two-time European title holder Nicola Canu as well as a newly crowned European champion Lorenzo Piras, are some of the most notable athletes made-in Sardinia.

It is Piras who makes history, fighting for the WKN kickboxing world title never before challenged on the island.

Lorenzo Piras, 24, is a current WKN super featherweight champion of Europe. He earned the trophy last November in Belgium. The bout against Paolo Renna featured on the card at the world series Simply The Best Ep 12 in Farciennes. The guest from Sardinia stopped the home crowd favorite in the third round. As a result Piras earned a qualification to challenge for the world title.

The name of his opponent is not yet revealed. The WKN world office advises that the fight card is currently in makes and will be revealed shortly. We will have more on this story as it develops.
