Lorenzo Piras and Allan Gozdzicki are fighting for the WKN kickboxing world title on April 22 in Sardinia.
The event makes kickboxing history on the island. Lorenzo Piras is the first fighter to challenge for a prestigious belt on its soil. The event headlines “The Night of Super Fight 6” in Iglesias.
Piras is a current super featherweight European champion. He claimed the belt last November at Simply The Best 12 Farciennes with a victory over Paolo Renna.
On Monday the World Kickboxing Network have announced the name of the second contender. Allan Gozdzicki of Belgium will form an opposition for the local star Piras.
A common opponent, Gozdzicki is fighting out of Osman Gym in Charleroi. He has been competing throughout the Globe for almost a decade. Along the way “Polek” has collected several European titles as well as challenged for the world. In addition in 2011 in Denmark, he has appeared at the Episode 5 of the Bigger’s Better Boxing series live on Eurosport.
Piras vs Gozdzicki is a five-round lightweight kickboxing championship of the world. The bout will go ahead at 5 x 3 minute rounds in oriental rules.
The promoter of the event is Antonio Alias. He has been prominently organizing kickboxing gala in Sardinia for quite some time now. Alias has held numerous shows in Oristano and Iglesias where local athletes face off international competitors.
Sardinia is a large Italian territory in the Mediterranean sea. It is a home of rising stars. Together with Lorenzo Piras, the list also includes a two-time European champion Nicola Canu among others.
