Dan Hooker vs Ross Pearson tops up the bill at UFC Auckland: Lewis vs Hunt.

UFC Fight Night: Lewis vs Hunt is held on Sunday June 11 at Vector Arena in Auckland, New Zealand. Last week the organization formally announced four bouts on the card. Two Top 10 heavyweights, ranked No.6 Derrick Lewis (18-4-0, 1 NC) of the US and ranked No.7 Mark Hunt (12-11-1, 1 NC) of Australia headline the show. Also on the program, Dan Kelly (13-1-0) of Australia is fighting Derek Brunson (16-5-0) of the US. Similarly, Ben Nguyen (16-6-0) of Australia is taking on Joseph Benavidez (25-4-0) of the US.  As well the newcomer out of Australia, Ashkan Mokhtarian (13-1-0) is going up out against John Moraga (16-6-0) of the US.

The fifth contest at the UFC Auckland fight card was revealed on Thursday.

Dan Hooker (14-7-0) of New Zealand is battling out against Ross Pearson (21-13-0, 1NC) of England in the lightweight contest. The Kiwi fighter appeared on the Radio Sport Breakfast where he spoke the bout.

“I am humbled, it’s an honor to fight Ross in my backyard,” said Hooker. “I can’t say enough good things about him. It’s just an honor to step in with legend of the sport.”

“This guy has been around and he’s been at the top of this sport since I was getting into it. It’s kind of a realization moment getting there and get this opportunity against such a big name.”

In the latest contest Dan Hooker faced a defeated against American Jason Knight in November 2016. His most recent win was against Filipino Mark Eddiva in March same year.

Taking on Ross Pearson, Hooker is looking forward to step again on the winning path. Englishman has a similar task in front of him, with three latest bouts recorded as the losses against Stevie Ray, Jorge Masvidal and Will Brooks. His most recent victory was last March against Chad Laprise.
