John Wayne Parr faces off Nando Calzetta at Bellator Kickboxing V on April 8 in Turin.
Australian muaythai fighter John Wayne Parr is going into the battle No. 128. The 40-year-old athlete out of the Gold Coast continues the journey he started at the age of 13. He is fighting Italian Nando Calzetta (45-9) this Saturday at the Pala Alpitour.
Parr landed in the city known for the “Thai Boxe Mania” promotion on Monday. He told fightmag.com.au from Turin that “it’s great crazy fighting for [Bellator] these guys”.
“Everything has been very professional since signing on,” said John Wayne Parr. “Very professional with how they take care of their fighters and it’s a privilege to be part of the team.”
The press conference for the event was held on Thursday. Calzetta revealed that he has been a fan of John Wayne Parr and “feels emotional and enthusiastic about their fight”. However he added that he would do his best to be the winner on the night.
Parr greeted the attendees with “buongiorno” and thanked the promotion for giving him the opportunity to be a part of the event that includes Melvin Manhoef and Giorgio Petrosyan. When asked about what to expect from his performance, Australian said he has flown across the World to make a statement.
“I really want to put on an amazing and exciting, and… I know you guys like violence, so I want to put on a violent fight,” said Parr.
“I’ve come 26-hours, and I didn’t come this far to loose. I’ve come here to make a statement, I’ve come here to win.”
“I want to try make my fight – the fight of the night. So you don’t forget my name when I leave.”

Giorgio Petrosyan (83-2-2, 1NC) is fighting Amansio Paraschiv (23-5-1) in the lightweight encounter. Denise Kielholtz (46-3) is facing off Martine Michieletto (34-12-5) in the women’s flyweight title fight. Nando Calzetta (45-9) takes on John Wayne Parr (95-32) in the catchweight bout. Mustapha Haida (45-5-2) squares off with Enriko Kehl (45-11-1) in the welterweight battle. Gaston Bolanos (8-1) vs Luca D’isanto (36-13-4) starts the program in the featherweight challenge.
