Jose Aldo vs Max Holloway headlines UFC 212 in Rio

UFC 212 is held on June 3, 2017 at the Jeunesse Arena in Rio de Janeiro live on Pay-Per-View. In the main event Jose Aldo (26-2-0) of Brazil is facing off Max Holloway (17-3-0) of the US.

Aldo is a current UFC featherweight title holder. He had been a champion for a number of years prior losing the belt to Conor McGregor in December 2015. Last July Aldo won an interim title against Frankie Edgar. In November Conor McGregor vacated the belt, which resulted in promotion of Aldo from interim to undisputed champion.

Ranked No.1 in the featherweight class, Holloway is an interim champion. He earned the belt by TKO in Round 3 against Anthony Pettis last December. Aldo and Holloway square off in the UFC featherweight title unification bout.

In addition, the famed MMA fighter out of Brazil, Anderson “The Spider” Silva (34-8-0, 1NC) partakes in UFC 212. He was previously lined up to face off American Kelvin Gastelum (14-2-0) but the bout was cancelled after the drug test of the latter. The name of a new opponent for Silva has not yet been announced.

To date the revealed fight card also comprises Claudia Gadelha (13-2-0) of Brazil vs Karolina Kowlkiewicz (10-1-0) of Poland. As well, the 9-fight undefeated Paulo Borrachinha of Brazil faces off Oluwale Bamgbose (6-2-0) of the US. Erick Silva (19-7-0) of Brazil battles out against Yancy Medeiros (13-4-0) of the US.

Also on the program Leonardo Santos (16-4-1) of Brazil vs Olivier Aubin-Mercier (10-2-0) of Canada. Antonio Carlos Junior (8-2-0, 1NC) of Brazil vs Eric Spicely (10-2-0) of the US. Marco Beltran (8-5-0) of Mexico vs Deiveson Alcantara (11-0-0) of Brazil. Johnny Eduardo (28-10-0) of Brazil vs Matthew Lopez (9-1-0) of the US.
