International kickboxing returned to Northern Ireland this past Sunday June 11.
The man credited with helping popularizing kickboxing in Ireland, Billy Murray presented the following edition of international events “Made-in ProKick”. The Usual Suspects 3 was held at Queen’s Hall Newtownards with a six-fight bill comprising the main card.
“Usual Suspect 3 was a roaring success. There were six cracking matches on the card that had something for everyone. A full International fight card,” said a former four-time world champion, promoter of the event Billy Murray.
Karate Queen out of Belfast, Cathy McAleer battled out in the headliner of the show. The World Kickboxing Network bantamweight champion in Full Contact squared off against Beatrice Marcialis. The latter is noted as a Muay Thai specialist representing Italian Sardinia. The super flyweight contest was a four-round WKN prestige match in K-1. A unanimous decision went in favor of the representative of the country-host.
The second bout from the top was a super lightweight clash between Killian Emery of Switzerland and Rytis Danuiles of Ireland. The four-round contest similarly went on distance. Emery took a unanimous decision, consequently updating his record to 16-0.
Post-event Murray said the fight between Emery and Danuiles “lived up to the billing, as both boys gave their all”. He outlined the knock-downs, spinning kicks, flying knee strikes “with each wanting to win”. In summary, “Emery wins his 16 fight,” he concluded.
The event was streamed live on Facebook. The complete results can be found below.
The promotion reflects The Usual Suspects (1995) movie. A previous show was held in February.
