Rafal Dudek gives Glory 43 pre-fight interview on episode 130 of The FightBox Podcast.
Rafal Dudek is a Polish kickboxer who has had well over 100 fights and has fought for most of the top kickboxing organizations in his career such as Enfusion, It’s Showtime, King of Kings, Shoot Boxing, Superkombat and more. However, on Friday July 14th, he will truly make it to the “Mecca” of combat sports when he faces Itay Gershon at Glory 43 at New York City’s Madison Square Garden. The full interview is available here.
Having just come off a victory in his home town of Nowy Sacz, Poland for the DSF Kickboxing Challenge promotion on June 23rd, Dudek is already preparing for his next fight. The biggest of his career.
“For me, this is a life dream,” says Rafal Dudek. “When I was young I was watching TV… And I never thought I would have a fight like this”.
Dudek was on the Glory roster a few years ago, once ranked as the number six featherweight contender, but as he explained on a previous episode of The FightBox Podcast, this was without even having officially signed a contract with the organization. Now, however, all the loose ends have been tied up and he is ready to make his Glory Kickboxing debut, this time at lightweight.
He is one of only three Polish fighters to have ever fought in “the world’s premiere kickboxing league” behind both Pawel Jedrzejczyk and Lukasz Plawecki. And although both individuals were able to give good accounts of themselves, neither was able to pick up a victory. When I asked the 34 year old Dudek if he felt any pressure to win, he told me he felt calm, but ready for anything. “I don’t feel pressure to win the fight. I want only to give a very good fight. I’ll to everything to win”. He seems to feel, though, that at his age, this could be his one and only chance in this organization if he is not victorious.
In addition to running his own gym in Poland, the Fight House Gym, Dudek also trains regularly with world renown kickboxing trainer Mike Passenier at Mike’s Gym in Holland. He was personally invited by “Big Mike” to train with him after a fight he had with Murthel Groenhart early in his career. In this episode of The FightBox Podcast, Dudek also discusses how he got into Glory, his thoughts on his Glory 43 opponent, Itay Gershon and much more.
Next week on the show my guest will be another lightweight kickboxer and K-1 legend turned MMA fighter, Andy Souwer.
He talks about his next fight, how negotiations are going with the Rizin promotion in Japan and also reminisces about his time in K-1 and his legendary fights against such opponents as Artur Kyshenko, Buakaw and Giorgio Petrosyan.
