World champion out of France Gregory Tony faces off against American Bob Sapp in the main event at Fight Night Saint Tropez 2017, the World Kickboxing Network announced on Monday. The contest is a three-round super heavyweight non-title fight in K-1.
The organization announced the French fighter battling out in the headliner of the upcoming show yet in April. “The Beast” hit the stream last month with the video, revealing his participation in one of the most spectacular combat sports events of the year.
Gregory Tony is the WKN World super heavyweight champion in K-1. He earned the title against Ukrainian Dmytro Bezus in 2014. As well, Tony made two defenses against Milan Dasic and Yannick Vest. During his career he has also defeated some of the best in business including Daniel Ghita and Errol Zimmerman. Furthermore the Frenchman went up against such fighters as Badr Hari and Hesdy Gerges.
Bob Sapp is a notable personage coming out of the professional wrestling and American football. Nevertheless, his resume includes two victories against World-renowned four-time K-1 champion, legendary Ernesto Hoost. Although with no claims of the first string in the heavyweight rating, Sapp took on some of the biggest names in kickboxing history including Remy Bonjasky, Mirko Filipovic and Peter Aerts.
