Glory 44 fight card features two kickboxing championships
Glory 44 is held on August 25 in Chicago

Kickboxing champions Cedric Doumbe and Tiffany Van Soest are set for the titles defense.

Kickboxing show Glory 44 is held on August 25 at Sears Centre Arena in Chicago. The event is the fourth promotion in the city, as well as the second this year.

On Wednesday the organization revealed four bouts featured on the program. The current welterweight champion out of France Cedric Doumbe (67-4-1, 39 KO) governs the bill at Glory 44 Chicago. The super bantamweight title holder, American Tiffany Van Soest (17-2-1, 5 KO) battles out in the main event at Glory 44 Super Fight Series.

Reigning champion Doumbe faces off the number one contender Murthel Groenhart (66-22-3, 38 KO) of Holland. The contest is a rematch following their Match 2016 encounter in Paris where the Frenchman took a unanimous decision.

In June “Doumced” defended the title, earning a split decision against Dutch Nieky Holzken. On the same night in Paris, Groenhart knocked out Armenian-Belgian Harut Grigorian, which made international headlines, due to the followed up brawl inside the ring that involved some of the crowd.

Van Souest aims to make the first defense of the super bantamweight title taking on Funda Alkayis (29-2, 12 KO) of Turkey. “Time Bomb” earned the belt winning the inaugural Grand Prix tournament in December 2016. Alkayis is coming out of a victory against Belgian Vanessa De Waele in Virginia last July.

The organization has also announced the Glory 44 Chicago co-headline bout that features Richard Abraham up against Daniel Morales at welterweight. As well, heavyweight Catalin Morosanu is scheduled to appear at Glory 44 Super Fight Series. The name of his opponent yet revealed. More information and other bouts are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
