UFC Saitama: Da Silva vs Saki

Gokhan Saki makes UFC debut at Fight Night: Shogun vs. Saint Preux 2.

UFC Fight Night 117 is held on Saturday September 23 in Saitama, Japan. The main event is a light heavyweight rematch between Brazilian Mauricio “Shogun” Rua (24-10-0) and Ovince Saint Preux (20-10-0) of the US. In their original bout in 2014 in Brazil, the American fighter claimed the victory via the first-round stoppage.

“You wanted me, now you got me. I’m going to give my fans a knockout and my haters a shut the f**k up,” Gokhan Saki posted in social media late last week, announcing his UFC debut in Japan. He takes on Brazilian Henrique da Silva in a three-round light heavyweight bout.

Gokhan Saki (83-12-0, 1 NC, 59 KO) is one of the most notable heavyweight kickboxers, representing the great days of K-1. His resume includes victories against Daniel Ghita, Melvin Manhoef, Tyrone Spong, among others.

Late May the 33-years-old “Turkish Tyson” announced his retirement from Glory Kickboxing, as well as singed with the UFC. His current MMA record is 0-1, that dates the 2004 defeat in Liverpool when he took the call on a “the night before the fight” and “did not know what MMA was“.

Henrique da Silva (12-3-0) is a 27-years-old Brazilian Mixed Martial Artist. He is coming out of three defeats against Ion Cutelaba, Jordan Johnson and Paul Craig. Earlier in his career, “Frankenstein” scored the victories against Joachim Christensen and Jonathan Wilson. The bout against Saki is his sixth contest in the UFC.
