Rico Verhoeven and Badr Hari are expected to face off in a rematch.
Reigning GLORY heavyweight champion Rico Verhoeven and K-1 kickboxing veteran Badr Hari battled out last December in German Oberhausen. The bout was stopped in the second round when Hari received an arm injury. As a result Verhoeven was pronounced as a winner via TKO. Post-fight both athletes verbally agreed on a rematch at a later date.
In July numerous media stated that the second bout between Rico Verhoeven and Badr Hari has been confirmed to take its place next year in Amsterdam. The date of March 25, 2018 was indicated. Moreover, several event pages have been set up on Facebook promoting a presumed happening.
Late last week, quoting Mike Passenier (trainer of Badr Hari) Dutch portal Sportnieuws reported that the exact date for the rematch has not yet been set. The release states that March appears to be “probably too early”.
In addition, despite numerous claims of March 25, 2018 as a set date for a rematch, no formal announcement has been made by GLORY. Responding to a tweet on Wednesday, the organization advised that the above mentioned date does not reflect the reality.

Badr Hari hasn’t fought since. Rico Verhoeven faced off Ismael Lazaar in May winning via a unanimous decision. He is scheduled to fight Jamal Ben Saddik in defense of the title end of the year.
