Toby Smith: Muay Thai “Weapon” in a making
Muay Thai promotion Domination 5 was held on September 19, 2010. The event went down in history as the first time when “the elbow master” Nathan Corbett visited Western Australia.
Appearing in front of the Perth crowd, “Carnage” took on Ukrainian “Caiman” Pavel Zhuravlev. The pair contested for a vacant, at that time, WKN World heavyweight title.
In addition, the event made history, as the first Australian show to feature the athletes out of Caribbean Islands, when kickboxing team representing Guadeloupe faced off WA fighters. In total the program at Domination 5 was a large bill comprising 20 bouts with male and female Muay Thai competitors.
One of the contests in the undercard was a lightweight clash between Australian Toby Smith and the guest out of the United Kingdom Reece McAllister. A five-round bout went the distance, with a followed split judges decision in favor of the latter.
Ever since a well-known competitor Reece McAllister fought the likes of Fabio Pinca and Mike Zambidis, just to name a couple. In 2013 he has twice appeared at Glory World Series as well as fought at the Yokkao events.
The career of Smith has also evolved. For several years he has competed predominantly in Thailand, gaining the ring name “Weapon”. His resume also includes a notable victory against John Wayne Parr when the pair clashed in Melbourne back in 2014.
In the next fight Smith takes on Charlie Bubb of New South Wales. A five-round middleweight bout headlines Domination 19, held on October 28 at Serpentine Jarrahdale Community Recreation Centre.
