Jeff Horn next fight
Australian boxer Jeff Horn (17-0-1, 11 KOs) was expected to face off Filipino Manny Pacquiao in a rematch following their encounter in July. The latter withdrew from the contest scheduled on November 12 due to his duties as a Senator of Philippines. As a result the spot to take on WBO World welterweight champion out of Australia was left open.
Several names including Anthony Mundine were brought to the table. However it was suggested that the next opponent of “The Hornet” would be a former two-weight division World Champion out of the United States Jessie Vargas.
The 28-year-old American appeared interested in the bout, giving it more credibility and expectation to go ahead. The journalist Ryan Songalia posted a tweet revealing what Vargas told him about the possibility of Jeff Horn fight.
“He knows where to find me! I’ll gladly take the belt from him.”
Nevertheless, Courier Mail reports that Bradley Skeete of the UK appears to be the next man to go up against Horn. Ranked No.3 in the welterweight class, the Englishman is a current WBO European champion with 27 wins and 1 loss. His resume includes the victories against Dale Evans, Shayne Singleton, John Thain, among others. According to BoxRec, to date all of his fights were held in the UK.
If the Jeff Horn vs Bradley Skeete fight gets locked in, it will take its place on November 25 at Brisbane’s conventional centre “because of climate conditions at that time of the year”. The rematch between Jeff Horn and Many Pacquiao is still in hopes for the next year.
