UFC 216: Johnson vs Borg

UFC 216 is held on October 7 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The Pay-Per-View main card follows the preliminary fight cards on FXX and UFC Fight Pass.

A five-round flyweight championship between the reigning champion Demetrious Johnson (26–2–1) and his American-fellow Ray Borg (11–2) is rebooked for this event. The bout was expected to serve as a main event at UFC 215, however was cancelled a day before the show when Borg was forced to withdraw from the fight due to illness. If successful, Johnson will become the first fighter in UFC with most title defenses of all time, at eleven.

Johnson vs Borg tops up the program at UFC 216 with its main event previously expected to feature a lightweight interim championship between ranked No. 2 Tony Ferguson and ranked No. 7 Kevin Lee. Ferguson vs Lee was a replacement for the initially targeted heavyweight title fight between current champion Stipe Miocic and former champion Cain Velasquez which didn’t go ahead.

The program also includes heavyweight Fabricio Werdum face off Derrick Lewis and Paige VanZant up against Jessia Eye at women’s flyweight. The current UFC 216 fight card can be found below.
