Jake Matthews: Are you ready?

UFC makes its return to Australia on Sunday November 19 with Fight Night 121 in Sydney. The event held at Qudos Bank Arena airs on FOX.

Seven bouts expected on the card have been revealed to date. A previously announced all-American welterweight contest featuring Belal Muhammad up against Jesse Taylor has been cancelled, due to the latter flagged for an Anti-Doping Policy violation stemming from an out-of-competition sample taken on August 22. Muhammad remains on the card facing off a new opponent yet to be named.

Australian Jake Matthews (10-3) took it to social media, expressing his desire with “I will take the fight” to go up against Muhammad at the upcoming event. He as well posed a question whether both, the fighter and the UFC, are ready.

Fighting out of Epping, Victoria, Melbourne Mixed Martial Artist Jake Matthews made his official UFC debut in 2014, taking the third-round victory via submission against Dashon Johnson. His resume also includes the victories against Johnny Case, Akbarh Arreola, Vagner Rocha. In the most recent bout last November, Matthews faced a split decision defeat against Andrew Holbrook.

UFC Sydney Fight Night 121 is headlined by Kiwi-Australian Mark “Super Samoan” Hunt up against Polish heavyweight Marcin Tybura. Also on the card Bec Rawlings takes on Joanne Calderwood at strawweight. Featherweight Alex Volkanovski faces Jeremy Kennedy. Middleeweight Daniel Kelly battles out against Elias Theodorou.
