UFC Fight Night 117: Henrique da Silva vs. Gokhan Saki

Kickboxing veteran Gokhan Saki makes his official UFC this coming Saturday in Japan.

UFC Fight Night 117 is held on September 23 at Saitama Super Arena. The event features eleven bouts with a light heavyweight clash between Ovince Saint Preux and Yushin Okami in the headliner of the show.

The main event was previously expected to see a rematch between Saint Preux and former champion in the division Mauricio Rua, however the latter was forced to pull out due to knee injury.

“The Turkish Tyson” Gokhan Saki (Kickboxing 83-12-0, 1 NC, 59 KO; MMA 0-1) makes his highly anticipated UFC debut battling out in the main card. His opponent is Brazilian Henrique da Silva (12–3). The pair meets in a three-round light heavyweight encounter.

Inside the square circle Saki’s resume includes the victories against the likes of Daniel Ghita, Melvin Manhoef, Tyrone Spong, Nathan Corbett, among others. He is known for his power and speed, arguably being the fastest heavyweight kickboxer of all time.

On Tuesday Saki tweeted a new reel that shows some of his highlight moments in kickboxing. “I’m ready. Are you?” he wrote in the caption.

Da Silva is coming off three defeats suffered against Ion Cutelaba, Jordan Johnson and Paul Craig. Before that he was riding a 12-fight winning streak. The bout against Saki is his sixth contest in the UFC.
