Girl Power 4 Varna fight card finalized
Kickboxing series Girl Power 4 Varna airs on SFR Sport 5 on Friday October 13. The event is the third episode produced in Bulgaria, following the shows in Stara Zagora and Sunny Beach. The Pay-Per-View pilot was held in Liepaja, Latvia in 2014.
Girl Power is an eight-woman featherweight kickboxing contest. To take all the contender has to collect three victories during one evening, in the format of a single-elimination tournament: quarterfinal, semifinal and final. The fast-paced bouts are scheduled at 3×2 minute rounds with prestigious WKN championship belt at stake. The series is produced by Bigger’s Better Boxing and World Kickboxing Network.
On Monday the promotion announced the eighth competitor partaking in the upcoming show. The 17-year-old Romanian Raluca Costache finalizes the roster, replacing Cathy McAleer of Northern Ireland, who was forced to pull out due to injury received in a fight against French Amel Dehby earlier this month in Saint-Raphael.
Trained by Dan Mocanu at Respect Gym Gaesti, Costache is known for her battle against Iulia Luiza, among everything. She also appears as the youngest fighter on the card.
Serbian Dragica Jelisavac was put back on the roster, which finalizes the eight-fighter card. The list of other participants includes Belgian Ashley Gilson, Denmark’s Pernille Schjonning, Czech Tereza Dvorakova, Bosnian Merima Basic, French-Romanian Andra Mihai and the representative of the country-host Amalia Koleva.
American Hall of Fame boxing referee Steve Smoger is expected to continue his journey in kickboxing, officiating Girl Power 4 Varna.
