Jorge Acero Cali – Champion for Life
Argentine “Acero” Jorge Cali is a former World Kickboxing Network super cruiserweight champion. His resume includes three defenses, as well as the victories against Brazilians Adul Ranmhemavo and Ademar Correa, Moroccan Abderahim Benazzizi and his country-fellow Walter Roszuk. He has also fought the likes of Gustavo Tolaba, Horacio Enrique, among others.
After retirement from fighting, “Acero” Cali aspired to help his hometown, and served as the President of Escobar City Council. He has worked with such experienced politicians as Daniel Scioli, the 2015 Argentina presidential candidate.
This past Sunday Jorge Cali attended Simply the Best 15 Moreno held at Believe Buenos Aires. The event marked the return of World Championship to South America, featuring Argentine Federico Roma winning WKN super bantamweight title against French Tristan Gaetano.
Before the headline-bout, Cali was invited to the square circle where WKN World President Stephane Cabrera and former World Champion out of Belgium Osman Yigin presented him with a special made championship belt. The badge features the photograph of three of them, as well as the “WKN Family – Champion for Life” writing.
The replica belt is the following gift presented to Argentine star by WKN President, after FIGHTMAG 10 Years + Acero 2015 WKN gold ring. In addition, the same year American referee Steve Smoger received the special belt ahead of his induction into the International Boxing Hall of Fame.
