Riyadh Al-Azzawi faces “Staz” Tanislav Tomashevkii

Iraqi-English kickboxer Riyadh Al-Azzawi is ready for his next bout. Following a set of victories collected in London, the event marks the return of “The Golden Champion” to his country of birth, Iraq.

Al-Azzawi headlines Kickboxing Grand Prix, facing off Polish heavyweight Tanislav Tomashevkii. The event takes place at Al-Shaab Stadium in Baghdad on Friday November 24.

Famed as the WKN World super cruiserweight champion in Full Contact, Al-Azzawi will test himself in oriental kickboxing (K-1). The bout is scheduled for five rounds.

Talking to FIGHTMAG on Wednesday, Al-Azzawi, who broke the news in 2014 with his gold-plated Ferrari, said that among everything, “bringing the world-class kickboxing to his hometown is the most important”. “It is historic moment for Iraq and Middle East.”

The resume of Al-Azzawi includes the victories over Tomasz Borowiec, Yavor Marinchev, Slavi Stoilov, Brian Connor, among others. Residing in London, he has been promoting the peace and respect globally, aspiring to “support and unite people in Iraq”.

The fight card at KGP also includes a series of international and championship bouts. The roster features the representatives of the country host up against the international opponents coming from Ireland, Jamaica, Sweden, Turkey, Thailand and Vietnam.
