UFC 218: Ngannou KO’s Overeem

UFC 218 took place at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit on Sunday December 3. The five-fight main card aired live on Pay-Per-View, with featherweight title contested in the headline bout.

The defending featherweight champion Max Holloway took on former champion Jose Aldo, in defense of the belt. The scheduled for five rounds championship bout ended prior the final bell.

It was all over in the third round, with Holloway proclaimed as the winner by TKO with punches. As a result he made a successful title defense, as well as earned the second victory over Aldo, following their initial encounter in June at UFC 212.

The co-main event featured the heavyweight clash between Alistair Overeem and Francis Ngannou. The bout neither went the distance, and ended in favor of Ngannou, who claimed the victory by knockout in the first round.

Also on the main card flyweight Henry Cejudo earned a unanimous decision against Sergio Pettis. As well, lightweight Eddie Alvarez took the third-round TKO victory over Justin Gaethje.

In addition, Tecia Torres scored a unanimous decision against Michelle Waterson at women’s straiweight. The complete UFC 218 results can be found below.
