Muaythai Angels season 2 final
The final of World Muay Thai Angels is held on Saturday December 16. The venue accommodating the event has not yet been formally announced, however according to sources the championship round takes place at Indoor Stadium Huamark in Bangkok, Thailand.
On Thursday the promotion posted on Facebook that Maria Lobo withdrew from the contest due to partaking in another bout held also in December. In addition, the promotion indicated the date of the finale set for next Saturday.
The representative of Portugal, Lobo defeated American Natalie Morgan in the semi-final round held in November. In addition, the night featured two other bouts, with the winner of WMA 2014 Thai Chommanee Sor Taehiran scoring a unanimous decision against England’s Lucy Payne, as well as South African Yolanda Schmidt, who similarly defeated another representative of the country-host Namtarn Por Muengpetch.
The Muaythai Angels final round presumably features Chommanee up against Schmidt. The pair has previously met at the 2015 IFMA Royal World Cup in Bangkok, where Schmidt, representing Australia, took a decision. Morgan will likely face a different opponent.
World Muay Thai Angels is a single-elimination tournament at the 57 kg weight class. During the season the athletes compete in a knockout system. The defeated fighter of each contest is immediately eliminated. We will have more information as soon as it becomes available.
