Manny Pacquiao vs Conor McGregor
Following extravaganza 2017 which made history in combat sports, with the MMA fighter stepping inside the square circle, there is reportedly another blockbuster fight in talks. The match up features boxing great out Philippines Manny Pacquiao face off Irish sensation Conor McGregor.
Over the course of his career Pacuqiao won world titles in eight different weight categories. McGregor, the current UFC lightweight title holder, is the man who stepped outside Octagon and took on the one and only Floyd Mayweather under boxing rules in August.
According to AFP Manny Pacquiao said on Friday that he has no problems with negotiating the boxing fight with the Mixed Martial Arts star Conor McGregor. The bout though has to be held in April, when he has a break from his legislative duties as a Senator of Philippines.
“If we can negotiate it, I have no problem. It is OK with both of us,” Pacquiao stated when asked about the talks that he was looking for a match with McGregor. Talking if he had already spoken to McGregor’s handlers for such a bout, he said that “initially, but we have not yet had any follow-up conversations.”
In his most recent bout McGregor lost to Mayweather. Pacquiao as well suffered a defeat to Jeff Horn. Both are looking forward to their return to action, however it all in hands of the promoters.
“It depends who they can finalize as my opponent by April,” Pacquiao said. In addition he said he could also face Australian Jeff Horn for the second time. The latter defends WBO welterweight title, which he has claimed from “Pacman” in July, against English Gary Corcoran on December 13 in Brisbane.
As well, the list of potential opponents for Pacquiao includes American Keith Thurman, who is the current WBA Super welterweight champion and WBC welterweight champion. He also said his next fight could take place in Malaysia, Dubai or Macau.
