Horn vs Corcoran – WBO welterweight title
Australian World Champion Jeff Horn defends his WBO welterweight title against Gary Corcoran of England. The pair headlines Battle of Brisbane 2 held at Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre tomorrow night, Wednesday December 13.
Horn shocked the world in July when he claimed the belt against renowned Manny Pacquiao, scoring a unanimous decision, as well as arguably causing an upset of the year in combat sports. Corcoran is WBO Inter-continental champion taking the title by split decision against Larry Ekundayo also in July.
As the official weigh-in ceremony conducted on Tuesday the champion showed 66.52 kg. His opponent was 66.47 kg. The welterweight limit is 66.68 kg. The championship bout is scheduled for 12 rounds.
Jeff Horn vs Gary Corcoran headlines a seven-fight international bill. Among the bouts, Australian featherweight Nathaniel May meets Brazilian Aelio Mesquita in the contest for IBF International title. Also on the card the representative of the country-host Rohan Murdock faces Russian middleweight Apti Ustarkhanov, battling out for WBO Oriental Sup’ belt. The full fight card can be found below.
