Carlos Coello becomes WKN bantamweight champion
World Championship returned to Spain on Saturday December 16, featuring the representative of the country-host Carlos Coello up against Portuguese Joao Goncalves. The pair battled out for a vacant WKN World bantamweight Muay Thai title in the city Ponferrada.
The scheduled for five rounds championship bout went the distance, with both fighters producing an all round action. The judges decision went in favor of the local athlete. As a result, Coello was proclaimed as a new titleholder in the division.
Promoted by Diego Vazquez, Coello vs. Goncalves for WKN bantamweight title, was the third championship World Kickboxing Network promoted in Spain this year. The event followed two Hombres de Honor MMA fight nights held in June and February in Madrid.
Over the years the organization has held numerous shows throughout the country, also visiting other cities, such as Barcelona, Cataluna, Lleida, as well as Balearic Islands. In addition, it was the second show held this past Saturday. International kickboxing returned to French city Saint-Fons with Nuit des Challenges 17.
