Jeff Horn vs Terence Crawford
Australian World Champion Jeff Horn is expected to face American Terence Crawford next year at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. However, the bout yet to be confirmed. The team of the reigning WBO welterweight champion wants $5 million, Courier Mail reports.
“I can tell you now, Jeff won’t be fighting Crawford for $1 million,” said his promoter Dean Lonergan. “This is a huge fight, pitting a man who beat an 11-time world champ [Pacquiao] against a fighter who is unbeaten in 32 bouts and regarded by many as the world’s best boxer, pound-for-pound. This will be one of the biggest fights in the world in 2018.”
Last Wednesday, the defending WBO welterweight titleholder from Brisbane, Jeff Horn stopped English Gary Corcoran in the eleventh round, making his first successful title defense. The bout followed the initial championship win, when the Australian boxer claimed the belt against renowned Filipino Manny Pacquiao in July.
Terence Crawford is the former two-division world champion, lightweight and light-welterweight. Undefeated in 32 bouts, he is moving up a weight class. In his most recent outing in August, he stopped Namibian Julius Indongo in the third round.
In addition, Horn reportedly was proposed a $2 million fight purse to face Australian Anthony Mundine. However, regarding the way negotiations were progressing, he would be likely taking on Crawford first.
