Ganryujima: Way of Samurai
Aspiring to popularize the “Way of Samurai” Japanese Mixed Martial Arts promotion Ganryujima opens the season with its 9th gala held on Wednesday January 3. Subtitled as “Out Enemy the event takes place at Maihama Amphitheater in Tokyo.
Established in 2015 by the former K-1 executive Sadaharu Tanikawa, the Ganryujimna events feature the bouts in the format of “Style vs. Style”. The contests are held on a flat circle, with the rules equivalent to typical MMA bouts, excluding submissions. As of last year the promotion collaborates with a prestigious kickboxing governing World Kickboxing Network (WKN).
In addition to the broadcast live on Fuji TV, Ganryujima 9: Out Enemy is scheduled for international replay on the Pay-Per-View platform FITE, staring on January 8. This is the first time when the show is available to watch outside Japan.
The roster of the upcoming show includes the representatives of Judo, Kickboxing, Sumo, Systema, Karate and other Martial Arts. Among the bouts Katsunori Kikuno takes on Michihiro Omigawa. Shouma Sivixay faces off Brian Douwes. Evgeny Shalomaev goes up against Carlos Toyota. The full lineup can be found below.
