UFC 221 in Perth: nearly full card revealed

UFC 221 takes place at Perth Arena on Sunday February 11. The event is the first Pay-Per-View promotion in Western Australia, headlined by the defending middleweight champion Robert Whittaker up against the former champion Luke Rockhold.

In addition to previously revealed ten bouts, two welterweight match ups have been added to the card. The roster includes Australian Jake Matthews who takes on Chinese Li Jingliang, while New Zealand’s Luke Jumeau faces Japanese Daichi Abe.

Matthews makes his second appearance as the welterweight, after taking a split decision victory against Bojan Velickovic at UFC Sydney Fight Night last November. Jingliang is riding a four-fight win streak, with the victories taken against Zak Ottow, Frank Camacho, Bobby Nash, Anton Zafir. Moreover three of these bouts he finished by way of KO/TKO.

Jumeau is coming off a defeat sufffered against Shinsho Anzai. Before that he won seven bouts in a row. Abe is undefeated in all of his six professional MMA bouts.

The fight card also includes a heavyweight battle between “The Super Samoan” Mark Hunt and Curtis Blaydes. The expected lineup can be found below.
