Girl Power 5 Stara Zagora (Final)

The fifth and final round of women’s kickboxing tournament Girl Power is held in Stara Zagora, Bulgaria on Friday February 9. The event airs live on SFR Sport 5, B1B Action TV and FITE Pay-Per-View.

Earlier this week World Kickboxing Network announced a change in the roster of the upcoming show, when Selma Baltic stepped-in for her Bosnian-fellow Merima Basic, who was forced to pull out due to injury. On Thursday Monika Babic of Croatia has been added to the card, replacing Valentina Simanikhina of Russia.

Fighting out of Zagreb, the 25-year-old Monika Babic brings to the table 22 wins out of 31 bouts in total. Nine of her victories she earned prior the final bell by way of knockout.

Among others, the Girl Power 5 card includes the winners of three previous tournaments Czech Tereza Dvorakova, Turkish Irem Akin and French Mallaury Kalachnikoff. In addition the semi-finalist out of Serbia Marina Spasic battles out on the night.

Girl Power is a one-night eight-woman featherweight kickboxing contest. To take all, the contender has to collect three victories during one evening in the format of a single-elimination tournament: quarter-final, semi-final and final. Prestigious WKN championship belt is on the line.

The series pilot was streamed in 2014 on Dailymotion PPV from Liepaja, Latvia. Since early 2016 Girl Power airs on French network SFR. Three episodes have been produced to date in Bulgarian cities Stara Zagora, Sunny Beach and Varna.

American Hall of Fame referee Steve Smoger is expected to officiate the bouts at the upcoming show. The updated lineup can be found below.
