UFC 221 Romero vs. Rockhold takes place at Perth Arena on Sunday February 11 (Feb. 10 in the US). The event marks the debut of Ultimate Fighting Championship in Western Australia, featuring a twelve-fight bill with the title belt contested in the main event.
The main card on Pay-Per-View comprises five bouts. The headline bout is UFC middleweight interim championship between ranked No.1 Cuban Yoel Romero and ranked No.2, who is also the former champion in the division, American Luke Rockhold.
The co-headline bout is a clash of heavyweights. The representative of the country-host Mark “The Super Samoan” Hunt faces American Curtis Blaydes. Also on the card another heavyweight battle between Australian Tai Tuivasa and French Cyril Asker.
In addition, welterweight Jake Matthews goes up against Chinese Li Jingliang, and his Australian-fellow Tyson Pedro meets Russian light heavyweight Saparbek Safarov. The preliminary card features four bouts, following the three-fight program on Fight Pass.
Following up a new event poster Luke Rockhold tweeted last week, the Australian date UFC 221 poster landed on Thursday. “Next stop, Perth, West Australia,” the promotion wrote in the caption.
The previous event, UFC 220 Miocic vs. Ngannou, was held last weekend at TD-Garden in Boston, with two championship belts contested on the night.
