Girl Power: 8-woman tournament

The the dust has barely settled after last Friday’s Girl Power finale held in Bulgaria, but World Kickboxing Network has already announced the start of Season 2. Episode 6 is scheduled for Friday June 29.

Girl Power is a women’s kickboxing tournament in the featherweight class. Each episode features eight international competitors, battling it out in a one-night knockout contest. To take all the contender has to collect three victories during one evening in the format of eliminator: quarterfinal, semi-final and final.

The series pilot aired live on Pay-Per-View in Latvia back in 2014. Three episodes were produced in Bulgarian cities Stara Zagora, Sunny Beach and Varna last year.

The most recent edition aired live on TV and FITE Pay-Per-View last Friday (Feb.9) from Stara Zagora, featuring the winners of three previous chapters, as well as two semi-finalists and three new comers. Turkish Irem Akin was proclaimed as the winner of Girl Power Season 1, after she took the decision against French star Mallaury Kalachnikoff in the championship round.

The country-host of the upcoming show is yet to be announced. We will have more information as soon as it becomes available.
