“The Weapon” Toby Smith
Toby Smith is back in the ring on March 3. Perth Muay Thai fighter goes through the ropes this coming Saturday in Melbourne, VIC taking on Slovakian middleweight Jakub Benko.
The latter is the second replacement opponent announced to take on “The Weapon” at the upcoming show. Smith was originally lined up to face French Adrien Rubis who was forced to withdraw due to injury. Brazilian Anderson Buzika took the bout, but reportedly “due to time limitations, getting a visa in time” he was unable to come to Australia.
The promotion announced Jakub Benko (41-20-1, 20 KOs) who stepped-in on a short notice as a new opponent for Smith. His resume includes the battles against Alexander Kruk, Matej Kozubovsky, Daniel Hromek, among others.
The Smith vs. Benko bout is the first out of the five-fight schedule announced for the Australian Muay Thai fighter in 2018. The list includes three contests in Melbourne and two bouts in front of his home crowd in Perth.
On June 2 Toby Smith battles out against Sam Gough of England, contesting for World Kickboxing Network middleweight title in Perth. On November 24 he takes on Brad Riddell of New Zealand with the bout taking place in Melbourne. The rest of the roster is to be determined in the future.
