“The Weapon” Toby Smith

Perth Muay Thai fighter Toby Smith took on Slovakian middleweight Jakub Benko on Saturday March 3. The pair battled it out in Melbourne, VIC. The event aired live on Pay-Per-View.

The scheduled for five rounds catchweight bout with the limit of 76 kg went the distance. The judges’ verdict proclaimed the representative of the country-host as the winner via a unanimous decision (50-45, 50-44, 49-45).

Benko was the second replacement opponent who took the fight against Smith on a short notice, replacing Brazilian Anderson Buzika and French Adrien Rubis. The previously announced fighters were forced to withdraw due to VISA issue and injury (respectively).

For Smith it was the first bout out of the five-fight schedule booked for 2018. In his next outing he is expected to headline Domination Muay Thai 20 held on June 2 in Perth, WA. His opponent is Sam Gough of England. The announced contest is for WKN World middleweight title.
