UFC 223: Nowhere to Hide ft. Not This Time – video

UFC 223 event trailers

UFC 223 takes place at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York on April 8 (April 7 in the US). The event is headlined by two championship bouts, featuring Tony Ferguson up against Khabib Nurmagomedov for undisputed lightweight title, which follows women’s strawweight championship rematch between Rose Namajunas and Joanna Jedrzejczyk.

The current lightweight titleholder is Conor McGregor. Ferguson is the interim champion in the division. According to UFC President Dana White, his upcoming bout against Khabib Nurmagomedov will crown a new undisputed champion.

McGregor, who has recently announced his aspiration to return inside the Octagon, is expected to be stripped off his title. He is however considered to face the winner of the Ferguson vs. Nurmagomedov bout at the future event.

Over the last three years Ferguson and Nurmagomedov have been scheduled to face off three times. The bouts were cancelled due to various reasons. “There’s nowhere to hide when Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov finally square off inside the Octagon,” stated in the description to “Nowhere to Hide” event trailer which recently hit stream.

Namajunas is the defending strawweight champion, while Jedrzejczyk is the former undefeated titleholder. The pair met last November at UFC 217 where “Thug Rose” claimed the belt by knockout in the first round.

“Former undefeated champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk seeks to avenge her only loss, while newly minted champ Rose Namajunas looks to validate her spot atop the strawweight division,” outlined in the caption of “Not This Time” trailer.
