UFC 225: Whittaker vs. Rockhold 2 (TBC)

UFC 225 takes place at the United Center in Chicago, IL on June 10 (June 9 in the US). The promotion reportedly targets the middleweight championship between Robert Whittaker and Yoel Romero to serve as its main event. The matchup has not yet be formally announced, however according to ESPN it has confirmed the plans with sources, following the initial report by BJPenn.com.

Robert Whittaker (19-4) is the current UFC middleweight champion. He won the interim title against Yoel Romero in 2017, and then was promoted to an undisputed champion, after Geroges St-Pierre vacated the title that he won against Michael Bisping.

Last month Yoel Romero (13-2) knocked out Luke Rockhold at UFC 221 in Perth. The bout was expected to be for the interim belt, however the Cuban fighter missed weight and was ineligible to take the belt.

Originally Whittaker was announced to headline Perth show facing off Rockhold. He was forced to withdraw due to staph infection in his stomach and was replaced by Romero.

In addition, CM Punk has recently announced via Twitter that he returns to the Octagon at UFC 225 in Chicago. More information is expected to follow in the coming weeks.
