IFMA Muay Thai World Championships 2018

Muay Thai World Championships 2018 is held in Mexican city Cancun from Thursday May 10 to Saturday May 19. The event makes history, as the first time when IFMA medals are contested on the Pan-American continent, with 79 countries competing. In addition, it is a qualifying tournament for The World Games 2021.

Sports governing body, International Federation of Muaythai Amateur (IFMA) remarked upon several athletes competing on the third day of the bouts. The list includes famed Yodwicha, who replaced Superbon Banchamek in Team Thailand, Belarusian “Bullet” Andrei Kulebin, Patricia Axling of Sweden.

Among the bouts the two-time champion Patricia Axling defeated Australian Rebecca Rooney in the women’s 57 kg class. Andrei Kulebin defeated Ian Escuza of Peru in the 71 kg male division.

The likes of TWG 2017 medalists, Ali Dogan of Turkey, Igor Liubcheko of Ukraine and Yelaman Sayassatov of Kazakhstan, also came out victorious from their bouts on Day 3 at IFMA 2018 Worlds. As a result they have advanced to the next round, consequently earning a shot at a place on the winners’ pedestal.
