UFC makes debut in Russia
The Ultimate Fighting Championships makes its highly anticipated debut in Russia. UFC Fight Night takes place at Olimpiyskiy Arena (Olympic Arena) in Moscow on Saturday September 15.
The event was initially indicated by Russia Today in January, when the staff at the Arena confirmed that two dates were booked at the 22,000 seat venue (35,000 capacity in total). The promotion has formally announced an upcoming Fight Night on Thursday.
“Russia is a key part of UFC’s international expansion strategy,” said UFC Senior Vice President David Shaw. “The demand from our fans to bring a live event to Russia has been overwhelming, and with the vast potential this market holds for us, we knew this was the perfect time to bring UFC Fight Night to Moscow.”
In addition, Andre Gromkovski has been appointed as Vice President, UFC Russia.
