Osman Yigin, the former 16-time World Champion
Starting Martial Arts at the age of 11, Osman Yigin conquered the world of kickboxing as many as 16 times. Over the course of his career Belgian-born Turkish Muay Thai fighter has competed across the Globe, taking on some of the best in business. His resume includes 200 bouts, with the final outing recorded in November 2013.
A few days before his retirement fight, Osman told FIGHTMAG that the most memorable for him was when he fought in front of 85,000 people at King’s birthday in Thailand. He took the win by decision.
In addition, in 1998 Osman opened a gym in Charleroi, where he coaches some of the prominent European kickboxers. He is also the WKN Belgian representative and coordinator for Turkey, as well as a promoter of Nuit des Titans (Night of Titans) and Belgian episodes of Simply the Best Kickboxing.
A short documentary The Legend hit the stream this week (in French). It features Osman Yigin talking his career in sport, as well as the highlight of his bouts, gym, promoted events.
The movie follows our video blog recorded in May, when we visited Brussels with Lilian Dikmans, and met my good friend Osman for the first time in almost fifteen years. The footage can be found here.
