Ondrej Hutnik caused an upset for Nicolas Wamba when he stole his WKN belt at Simply The Best 10 Prague fight night on Friday 15th April.
Super-heavyweights Ondrej Hutnik and Nicolas Wamba headlined the tenth edition of eminent Simply The Best series on KOMBAT Sport. French star Wamba was a defending champion, who won his WKN intercontinental title last year against Petr Vondracek at Simply The Best 4 Prague.
Technically Hutnik was a replacement for Vondracek, who was aiming to take a revenge for almost a year. Indeed, five weeks prior a sever injury forced him to withdraw from the challenge.
The Wamba vs Hutnik clash was scheduled for three by three minute rounds. Nevertheless the lights went off in round three. Hutnik landed his heavy hand that dropped Wamba to the canvas. Although the Frenchman reportedly got up, it was not enough for the referee who, after the count, waved the contest off.
The verdict proclaimed a technical knockout victory for local favorite Hutnik. He is now a proud new owner of a prestigious WKN championship belt.
Simply The Best 10 Prague was a spectacular eleven-fight bill that presented nine kickboxing and two MMA challenges. Local stars were facing international competitiors from Slovakia, Croatia, Hungary. Korea and Lithuania. The WKN championship have seen Michaela Kerlehova claiming women’s flyweight European title over Monika Chochlikova from Slovakia. Jiri Apeltauer became international champion after he beat Hungarian Dominik Breczki. Georgij Fibich stopped David Vins and earned national title belt.
