Kevin Burmester defeated Phetchompu Sitjaopho in the WKN Intercontinental championship on Saturday 16th April in Aarhus, Denmark.
The Burmester vs Sitjaopho intercontinental title clash went ahead under full Muay Thai rules in the lightweight division. Germany-born Burmester stood for Europe against his Thai vis-a-vis Sitjaopho who represented Asia. The five-rounder went on distance with the judges decision proclaiming German star as a new title holder.
Burmester, 21, is an internationally renowned kickboxer from Germany. To date he has appeared at several famous events including Fight Night Saint Tropez where he battled Samsamut, and RISE promotion in Japan where he faced Yasuomi Souda. In Aarhus Burmester updated his record to 65 bouts with 59 victories.
The show also featured the WKN European Grand Prix made in the format of a four man eliminator. Xavier Lejour of Osman Gym in Belgium reportedly took all tournament. Complete results are awaited to be officially revealed by WKN World Office.
The event was promoted by Mohammad Tehrani who, among everything, presented the fifth edition of Bigger’s Better boxing show live on Eurosport. He also held the WKN kickboxing World Grand Prix the ‘Valhalla – Battle of Vikings’. Klaus Hagemann from Germany was the WKN international supervisor on the event.
