Perth fitness queen Renae Wauhop makes professional boxing debut at Domination 18 fight night on Saturday, 22nd October 2016 in Perth, WA.
Renae Wauhop is a Miss Universe Australia and Amazing Race runner-up. She is a co-owner of Anarchy Training Centre together with pro-boxer Glen Austin. Wauhop tops up the bill of the 4 man muaythai tournament that takes over Fight Night Perth.
Geraldton-raised Renae Wauhop is a finalist of 2010 Miss Universe Australia. She came second among 30 competitors on the night. Sydney’s Jesinta Campbell earned the crown. The following year Wauhop became a TV personality. She appeared in The Amazing Race Australia show. The 4-week shoot took over 4 continents, 12 countries and 23 cities. Western Australia’s beauty claimed the runner-up trophy.
In 2014, already well-known in WA boxing circles, Renae Wauhop told Perth Now where she gets her fighting spirit from. The man behind her inspiration is her great-uncle Jack Wauhop. He fought in World War II. Although going through dramatic chapters he came out victorious. He is remembered as a true warrior and Anzac spirit.
Two years since and three months ahead of a knockout punch-on instead of make up and glamour, Renae Wauhop is getting ready for the night of the big bang. She has previously done boxing for fitness only. Nevertheless, the girl they call ‘Perth beauty queen’ can hit hard. Moreover she reportedly spars professional boxers.
Her trainer and business partner Glen Austin is the one to encourage Wauhop to get into the real fight action. As a result it’s all happening on Saturday, 22nd October 2016 at Serpentine Jarrahdale Recreation Centre in Byford, WA.
An opponent for Wauhop is yet to be named. Meanwhile, promoters of Domination 18 Perth told Fightmag this morning she is facing an interstate experienced opposition. We will have more on this story as it develops.
