Katsunori Kikuno takes All Asia 8-man martial arts tournament at Ganryujima 10.21 on Friday, October 21, 2016 live on air by Fuji Network in Tokyo, Japan.
Japanese mixed martial artist Katsunori Kikuno earned three victories in All-Asia one night tournament. In the opening round he stopped Ha Woon Pyo of Korea. In the semi-finals he went up against Russian Igor Permin. Kikuno took the third round TKO win and moved to the finals.
In the championship round Kikuno battled out against his country-fellow Michihiro Omigawa. The second beat Zhang Wensheng of China and Ali Mahrou Bakhtiari of Iran. The bout ended prior the final bell. The verdict proclaimed Katsunori Kikuno as the winner of all tournament. Earlier in his career Kikuno made the 2-3 record in UFC as well as held the DEEP lightweight title.
In addition, local Akihiko Mori defeated Aditya Katkade of India in the reserve bout. Also on the night Italian Michele Verginelli defeated Brazilian Marcus Lero Aurelio. Star Style of Mongolia beat Nigeria’s Honshu.
Ganryujima 10.21 was the fifth edition of a new martial arts project powered by Sadaharu Tanikawa, a producer of K-1. The events air live on the leading network in the country, Fuji TV. Ganryujima collaborates with the number one kickboxing federation, World Kickboxing Network (WKN).
