Girl Power Kickboxing Tournament


Throwback Thursday with Bigger’s Better rewinds two years back to the Girl Power kickboxing edition.

Girl Power 8-woman kickboxing tournament airs live on PPV. The event is held on Friday, November 14, 2014 in Liepaja, Latvia.

Eight prominent female fighters from all around the world take part in the bantamweight Grand Prix. The concept of the tournament is as simple as it comes. Knockout format where winner takes all. Prestigious WKN kickboxing championship belt is for grabs.

Seda Duygu Aygun represents Turkey. In the opening round she takes on Elna Nilsson of Sweden. Slovakian Ivana Miklasova goes up against Daorung Samrong of Thailand. Anna Tatjana Lie of Norway squares off with Pernille Schjonning of Denmark. Representative of the country-host Karina Jarjomenko faces off Ratnadiptee Shimpi of India.

The event is also historic. Famed boxing referee out of the Atlantic City, NJ, USA, Steve Smoger makes his debut as the referee in kickboxing.

Topping up the bill the Bigger’s Better Girl Power edition features the IBA boxing cruiserweight world championship. Mairis Briedis of Latvia faces off Ismail Abdoul in defense of his title. The event airs live on Eurosport.
